About Mills Academy

Mills Academy is a small transitional private school in Louisville, KY founded in 2012 by Lindsey and Taylor Jones. Mills Academy was developed for children diagnosed with ADHD and/or Anxiety with accompanying learning differences in reading, writing, or math. Our program is an all-inclusive, collaborative approach to a child’s learning. Our mission is to create an environment that challenges our students academically, while continuing to meet the needs of their unique learning abilities. Mills Academy provides a nurturing and supportive environment, allowing children to work to their highest potential. The Mills Academy program provides intense academic and therapeutic interventions, while keeping with an advanced curriculum to enrich the more traditional learning styles. The interventions are necessary to help foster our student’s ability to be an independent learner, which is the key to a successful transition into mainstream education.

Our Students Defy Odds & Grow
Mills Academy provides a low student to teacher ratio for specialized learning. An average class size is six to seven children, and all interventions are on a one-to-one ratio. Mills Academy provides the environment for children to take “a break” from traditional schooling that is not meeting their needs and is only increasing their levels of anxiety, causing the gap in their learning to grow, and impacting your child’s confidence and self-esteem. Mills Academy meets your child where they are, intervenes where needed, challenges their learning, and provides your child with the needed skills to successfully access their learning when they are no longer a Mills Academy student. Our students defy many odds and are provided with learning opportunities that they would not otherwise receive.

Head Of School
Lindsey Jones graduated from Russell Sage College with her Masters of Science in Occupational Therapy in 1996. She knew she always wanted to work with pediatrics and founded Therapeutic Solutions/Pediatric Solutions back in Massachusetts in 1998. She met her husband Taylor and moved to Louisville in 2002. Over time her practice transitioned and grew in Louisville, KY. She always had a love and passion for children and saw the need of integrating both therapy and education and how the collaboration of all therapies were needed to support kids and their learning. With this passion, her program evolved to include Occupational Therapy, Speech Therapy, Social Cognition, ADHD support, and Reading Intervention. She had a desire to develop a one stop program with a child centered approach. With this mission, she and her husband co-founded and developed Mind Body Child and later Mills Academy. With Lindsey’s passion, education and vision for this program and Taylor’s business acumen it has now become one of the most integrative and collaborative educational programs in Louisville.
Lindsey has spent her career learning from other practitioners and teachers as well as receiving a multitude of certifications which would later gain her the knowledge to support her program and students. Lindsey finds that she is extremely focused with the neurological foundation of a child’s development and how that impacts their learning. Lindsey has undergone extensive training in Reflex Integration and Sensory Processing, certified in the Sensory Integration and Praxis Test. She is certified/trained in a multitude of Modalities, Visual Spatial Deficits, Motor Disorders, Personal Training, Comprehensive Behavioral Intervention for Tic Disorders (CBIT), Social Cognition, Reading Intervention, and specific trainings in ADHD/Executive Functioning Coaching and Parenting Coaching. She continues to seek out education and training to ensure that she will always meet the needs of her students, support parents, educate schools and teachers. She reminds herself that it is never just one area that needs to be addressed while always integrating the Whole Child.
Lindsey is the mother of four amazing children, Emma, Holden, Payton, and Isla. Her most favorite time spent is being with her husband and kids. She has learned so much as a mother, which has helped her grow as a practitioner. She loves her career, all that it offers, and every child she meets. Her own hobbies include reading, shopping, exercising, and spending time with her friends. Lindsey enjoys visiting her extensive family.
